Cherokee Rock Village

Previously know as "Little Rock City"

Located just minutes from Sand Rock and Leesburg area of Lookout Mountain

 

 

Cherokee Rock Village is a 200 acre County owned park located on Shinebone Ridge west of Leesburg. Enormous sandstone and quartz formations rise to 150 feet and measure 70 feet wide in some areas.

The panoramic view of the valley and beautiful Weiss Lake from the top of the village is breathtaking!

 

 

On a clear day there is a view from Rome, Georgia to Gadsden, Alabama.

 

It is believed that the Cherokee Indians and other tribes used these formations for religious and ceremonial rites.

 

 

 

Native Americans Lived in this area from 8000 B.C. until the Cherokee Indian Removal, commonly called the "Trail of Tears" in 1838.
