It is unique in that Little River, which runs thru it, forms and flows most of its length on top of a mountain. The canyon plunges 700 feet down at its deepest point, and stretches more than 18 miles. It varies in width from one half mile to a mile and a half. Spring rains bring out the kayaks and canoes, while fall is a favorite time for tourist to view the leaf color changes.
