Welcome to our Tourism section!
Breathtaking Scenery and Natural Wonders. Blessed by the unique geography of northeast Alabama, Cherokee County is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise four seasons of the year.
Weiss Lake is the place to be on a warm summer day. Whatever your pleasure - fishing, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, picnicking, sailing, swimming or just watching the water slowly lap the shoreline - you'll find it at Weiss Lake. Spring and Fall is the best time for Bass and Crappie fishing. Winter brings a gentle appearance for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful sunsets.
Lodging ranges from motels to resorts to bed and breakfast to camping and rv-ing.
While Weiss Lake may be the centerpiece of Cherokee County, a myriad of other recreational activities can be found within minutes. Blow your own glass ornament, paddle the Terrapin, hike the trails and explore the natural adventures at Cherokee Rock Village, Little River National Preserve and Canyon Mouth Park Recreation Area, and The Pinhoti Trail. Visit historical Civil War sites, Cornwall Furnace, and others.
Cherokee County offers an unbeatable central location with easy access to some of north Alabama's best golf. The Cherokee Country Club's 18-hole course provides year round play for golfers. With a balanced mix of tight fairways and enough water to create some intimidating tee shots, the challenging course will test each player's shot-making ability.
